Apple's Reveals it's Latest Chip Specs as Testing Commences

Apple is reportedly in the testing phase of it's latest M3 computer chip and is said to be accelerating testings of the said chip. The information comes from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. A version of the new chip was sighted with 12-core CPU, 18-core GPU and 32GB RAM.

According to Gurman, Apple Macs with the new chip which is built on a 3nm process technology will be arriving between the ending of 2023 and early 2024.

The chip's CPU cores are evenly distributed for power and energy efficiency with six cores optimized for performance while the other six cores are optimized for power efficiency. The increase in performance and energy efficiency can be compared to that of the M1 to the M2, and Apple hopes that this should be enough to increase demand, even though Apple witnessed a decline in it's Mac business last quarter.

The Bloomberg journalist suggested that the M3 Pro and M3 Max will feature similar performance and energy efficiency gains compared to the M1 to M2 series. The M3 Max, according to Gurman will have a 14-core CPU and 40-core GPU, while the M3 Ultra might come with 18-core CPU and 80-core GPU, double that of the M3 Max. Take note however that these details aren't yet confirmed but Apple is expected to host it's WWDC next month, and hopefully, we will be able to know more then.
